Types of slabs

In this topics we will talk about one of the important structural elements which is slabs , there is many types of slabs :

1-Ribbed slab 

2-Solid slab 

3-Flat slab 

4-Flat plate 

5-waffle slab 

Every type of slab has features differs from other so for each one uses differ from another , for example ribbed slab used in the residential building because this structural system gives more thickness in slab so it will give more effectiveness in isolation for humidity and sound .

the slabs are divided in two types with respect to its direction :

1-one way slab : its used when the longer span is more or equal than two of the shorter span

2-two way slab : its used when the longer span is less than two of shorter span .
