Why we use stirupps in the column ?
The first use of the stirrups is to prevent shear failure .
The second use is to prevent the motion of the bars at casting .
The third use is to prevent buckling .
Note : the spiral stirrups can reduce the axial load on column by 10% of the total load but this type of stirrups is hard to do at site .
