Geotechnical engineering is the science that study the ground situation , rock , and soil . so its divided to two main section :
1-geological engineering
2-soil engineering
This is one of the important part in the civil engineering ,for an example , if we have a well designed and done construction but the soil is bad the construction will surely fell .
we will start with soil engineering :
we have many test that should be done the soil to know it's properties such as CPR (California bearing ratio ) ,shear test ,water content , optimum moisture content (density ) . but the most important to know is bearing capacity of soil , cohesion , angle of friction .
In the next post we will talk about geological engineering .
